The dreams were happening again.

It was something seventeen-year-old Elizabeth Hayes thought she’d outgrown. She didn’t want them anymore; detailed premonitions of how people would die.

One night, Lizzy’s worst nightmare occurs. She dreams of her boyfriend, Michael Young, and soon discovers his car was found in a river, along with his lifeless body.

Confusion settles deep within when Michael appears alive in her dreams. He warns her, attempting to keep her safe from the very person who murdered him.

Awake, Lizzy must pull on her inner strength, not only to save herself, but also her friends whose lives are in danger.

In My Dreams is a story of trust, friendship, courage, and true love that lives beyond the grave.

My family is what keeps my heart beating, and my world a happy place to be.

I love reading great books that whisk me away from reality, even if for a little while. 🙂 Writing is my passion. I love creating new worlds and new characters, and taking wondrous adventures with them.

In My Dreams & Hidden Wings were both recently published through Crushing Hearts and Black Butterfly Publishing. Descent (A Hidden Wings novella) will be released May 15, 2013, and Broken Wings (Book 2 in the Hidden Wings Series) will be released June 1, 2013.

One day I will find my magic wardrobe, and ride away on my magical unicorn… ♥ Until then… I’ll keep writing! 😉

Blurb:

It started with unspoken animosity. The bitter bite of jealousy. And now its full blown hate.

It was during my first football game that I first felt the first chill of hate. I looked it right in the eyes and felt its sticky tentacles reach out for me. I’d never experienced something so cold and empty before.

The effect of that look lingered, like an unspoken promise, long after it was gone.

Becoming a couple – becoming the other half of a campus celebrity wasn’t easy. I let down walls guarding my heart and he looked past my glasses and accident prone tendencies. Romeo and I are an unlikely match, a #nerd and a jock. But we made it.

And we’re happy.

Zach doesn’t want us to be happy. He wants Romeo to pay for getting him kicked out of Omega and for the night he spent in jail. He’s going to use anything and everything he can to get his revenge. Including me.

As the weather on campus grows cold and the days become dark, revenge becomes the center of someone’s life and the happiness Romeo and I worked so hard for is threatened.

I can’t help but worry that our love is going to be overshadowed by hate.

My Review:

5 out of 5 stars

It seems as though I am never disappointed when it comes to Cambria Hebert’s books! This one was no exception. Of course I had read the first in the series and I had been anticipating this book since then. I love Romeo and Rimmel. Their characters work so well together, and I’m pretty sure after reading this most girls will be looking for a Romeo in their life.

While the story picks up right where #Nerd left off, this book is the perfect compliment because we learn so much more about everyone. I had no trouble at all getting sucked into the story and staying up way later than I should have to turn the pages. When I finished, I was very sad that it was over. I will be eagerly awaiting Hebert’s next book!

#Hater Excerpt

Copyright by Cambria Hebert

The distance between us was getting wider.

She thought I would just drive her back to campus, that I would just let her walk away mad.

Hell to the no.

I still remembered the night she got out of the Hellcat and walked away from me. The night I had to tell her getting close to her had only been a bet. The hurt in her eyes still cut me to the core.

I didn’t want a repeat of that night. Not ever again.

Zach had been the cause of that night, and he was pretty much the cause of the space between us now.

He was a hater. Plain and simple.

I couldn’t. I wouldn’t let the hate he spewed so willingly overshadow everything I had with Rimmel. I agreed with my dad.

She was a keeper.

Her hand was stiff as I pulled her along toward my place, but she still allowed me to lead her. When we got close to the pool, she moved closer to my side, and I angled my body in front of her to block the sight.

Once inside, we didn’t speak. She took off her heels and coat, and I went to turn on the fire in the bedroom. When I came back, she was crouched down in the living room, petting Murphy, who was zigzagging around her feet.

“You took pictures of me when I was sleeping.” Her voice was calm and quiet, but it filled the room.

“Yeah, I did.” I wasn’t going to apologize for that. Deep down, I must have known things might come to this. I was a lawyer’s son after all. I knew things needed to be documented.

“You could have just asked.” She straightened up from Murphy and looked at me. “Instead, you took advantage of me and never said a word.”

“I didn’t take advantage of you. I was just doing what I thought was best.”

“Well, you don’t get to decide what’s best for me!” Her voice rose, and Murphy paused in purring to look up at her.

“I don’t get a say?” I shot back, trying to hold on to my temper.

She took a deep breath. “Of course you do. But you didn’t say anything. You just did. Just like at dinner. You just announced I was getting a restraining order. There was no conversation.”

I opened my mouth, but she kept talking.

“How am I supposed to trust you when you do things like this without me knowing?”

“You don’t trust me anymore?” I said the words with quiet calm. Surely this wasn’t enough to ruin the trust between us.

She blew out a breath and paced across the room. “I didn’t say that.” She spun away from me and looked at the wall. “I’m just upset.”

I strode across the room. It was darker where she was. The lights were off in here, and from this position in the room, the crackling fire in the bedroom didn’t cast much light.

My feet stopped when I was directly behind her. Usually, I would touch her without thought. But right then I paused.

Fuck. That.

I wrapped my hands around her wrists, then loosened my grip to slide my palms up her arms to rest at her shoulders. I felt her exhale, and I wrapped one of my arms across her chest and pulled her back against my front.

“I could tell you I’m sorry,” I whispered in her ear. “I could whisper how much I love you and that I won’t ever do something like this again.”

The back of her head hit my chest as I spoke. The silky strands of her perfectly straight hair tickled my lips as I talked, and the scent of her shampoo enticed me closer.

“But I’m not going to apologize.”

She stiffened, but I strengthened my hold, unwilling to let her pull away. I kept my voice whisper soft and my lips right beside her ear.

“I’d do it again, in a friggin’ heartbeat if that’s what I thought you needed.”

Review: Roomies by Lindy Zart

image

Title: Roomies
Author: Lindy Zart
Genre: NA Rom-Com

image

Blurb:

Blurb: Graham Malone is my roommate, my personal eye candy, the reason I get up in the morning smiling (that could be from the illicit dreams I have about him too, I suppose. Let’s move on.). He’s also beautiful to look at, but his heart is where his true beauty lies. Take away the exterior and the interior still shines.

I love him. I mean, I’m pretty sure I do, having never been in love before. Anyway, it seems legit.

And now his brother Blake is here, and, well, he’s the complete opposite of Graham. Sarcastic, brooding, and totally available. But he’s leaving soon, and Graham’s the one I want. I shouldn’t have to remind myself of this, right? I wouldn’t have to if Blake would quit looking at me like I’m something yummy and he’s starving.

Here’s a toast to roomies; the ones you should never fall in love with. Or something.

My Review:

5 out of 5 stars

I was so excited for this book’s release. The blurb intrigued me from the moment I read it. I couldn’t wait to get to know Graham, Kennedy and Blake. As soon as I read the dedication at the beginning of the book, I knew I was in for a treat! I instantly knew that I was going to love Kennedy.  I could totally relate to her sarcasm and wit. Then I was introduced to Graham. Hellooooo! I loved the relationship between him and Kennedy. Blake took some getting used to, but he was such an important part of the story. I grew fond of him as well.
Lindy Zart never ceases to amaze me with her talent to tell a story. The characters are always real, relateable.

If you are looking for a book that will help you forget about the holiday stress, grab Roomies! It will have you laughing as soon as you open the first page, I promise!

image

Excerpt:

He gives a slight smile. “You don’t know everything about me.”
“I should know that.” Maybe I shouldn’t, but I really feel like I should. Graham’s pretty much the most important thing to me; I should at least know his family history. He knows mine. Well, most of it. Some of it. Enough…
“Now you do. Are we done? I really need to put some clothes on.”
“But…you said he was in school,” I finish lamely, my voice dropping to a whisper.
“He’s in college.”
I scowl at him. “You purposely led me to believe that your brother was some pimply teenager who was going to mooch off you for the remainder of the summer, not…not…” I jab a finger in the direction of the living room.
“Not what?”
“Not some hottie!” I blurt out, and then wish I hadn’t.
Especially when Graham rears back and gets a funny look on his face. “You think my brother’s hot?” His voice is even, but his eyes look weird. Like, angry or something. A thrill goes down my spine at the thought of my comment having that effect on him. Could he be jealous?
“Yes.” I nod firmly.
“Huh.” He looks away.
A dash of regret has the audacity to chase the little thrill away. I wonder if I’ve upset him, but then decide I haven’t. Why would he be upset? Unless he doesn’t know I think he’s hot too. So I figure I should tell him. It would be rude not to.
“You’re also hot.”
He gives me a look; part incredulous, part I don’t know what. “Thanks,” he says faintly.
“Yeah.” I start to feel dumb about pretty much the whole conversation. “Okay. ‘Bye.”
“’Bye.”
I glance back at him. He is staring at me with a frown pulling his mouth down. “You should put some clothes on.”
“Right.”
I enter the living room. Blake is studying a fake plant in the corner of the room, which pretty much confirms that he was listening to our complete word exchange. Wonderful.

Stick to your circle.
And never fall in love with anyone on the outside.

My Review:
5 out of 5 stars
Throughout #Nerd by Cambria Hebert we get a chance to meet and get to know Rimmell and Romeo.  They are both college students at Alpha U and couldn’t be from more different worlds.  We get to see the story play out when they are forced to spend time together.
I really, really, really enjoyed this book.  Once I started, I could not put it down.  I instantly fell in love with the characters.  There were many qualities in Rimmell that I could to relate to and Romeo, well he was just downright swoonworthy.  I felt truly vested in the story, like what happened in the story would actually affect me in real life.  Murphy the cat definitely earned a special place in my heart.  There were parts that reminded me of Gossip Girl which I absolutely loved.
Whenever Hebert releases a new book, I know I will love it.  This one is no exception.  If you are looking for a funny, sweet, great book, look no further.  Get #Nerd by Cambria Hebert today.  It’s trending!

Synopsis:

Saying “I love you” doesn’t erase the old scars and fears.

“I love you to insanity. I’m not even sure if it’s a good thing.” — Duke

Skye is trying to overcome what happened with Sean. Now that she’s slowly healing, both physically and mentally, she’s determined to do something she should have done sooner.

She’s meeting twice a week with a new, very young therapist, Dr. Marshall.

There, she’s able to talk freely, unwind, and question things. Most of the sessions she talks about herself and her hang-ups, along with her relationship with Duke, which is still on rocky ground.

“I want to taste his sweat. I want to hear his groans. I want to feel him inside of me.” — Skye

But while Skye is slowly getting back on her feet, Duke feels like he’s drowning. He’s afraid of pushing her too much, of initiating intimacy, and it’s weighing between them. Moreover, knowing that he’s not the one she’s talking to anymore is making him feel things he never thought possible.

“It’s a matter of when I’ll stop fighting.” — Duke

As days pass, Duke is showing over and over how vulnerable he truly is and how Skye has more power over him than she ever imagined.

When Skye sees how they keep hurting each other, she’s determined to do everything in her power to make things right, no matter what the cost.

But one thing is still sure; she can count on Duke whenever she needs him, even if they disagree and fight. When Duke loves, he loves with everything he’s made of, the good and the bad.

“Loving her is confusing, making me afraid of myself and what I can do … because I can break us both.” — Duke

In Patch Up and Fix Up you had Skye and Duke’s story.

Now, it’s time for Derek and Kate to find their path.

He fights for the people he loves.

She fights against love.

Kate Andrews is starting her second year of college in Seattle. She is happy to leave Chicago and her dysfunctional family behind to be with her friends again. Growing up she thought that her parents’ loveless marriage was all her father’s fault, but that summer she discovered that things are so much more complicated in life and love. Her mother is bipolar. That doesn’t mean her father isn’t unfaithful, nor does he support her and her choices. Additionally, he isn’t a great father or husband, but it brings a new perspective in her life; the way she envisions love.

Derek Williams graduated college a few months ago, and while he moved back in again with his single mother and teenage brother, he never thought that he would be struggling with two crappy jobs. He is not succeeding in either of his jobs or in his countless plans for the future. Instead, he’s trying to bring back his brother and set him on a straight path, while trying to avoid the wrong crowd hounding him, thanks to his brother. Together with fighting his mother on her lack of support in their family, this all has caused chaos.

“Yes, my life is a fucking mess. I have nothing for that girl who deserves everything, and yet I still can’t just sit on my ass and wait for the next asshole to pursue her.‘’ — DEREK

Both of them are very different. Their upbringing is opposite; their vision of love and life contrast, and yet …

“I want to open up to it, open up to the possibility of heartbreak even if I’m scared to death. I’m ready to change up.” — KATE

They’re both still hung up on each other. They can’t forget that one night they shared months ago, can’t ignore their attraction and quickly maturing love. They match in every way that matters, but time and time again their respective families are getting in the way.

“He’s the commitment kind while I’m anti-commitment.” — KATE

Are they willing to fight for each other? Is Kate ready to risk her comfort and everything else for love? Is Derek prepared to chose which battles are worth fighting for?

“It’s never been friendship, and it’ll never be.’’ — DEREK
