cover

Synopsis:

Is love stronger than race?
The world is changeing as we know it, the human race is dwindling, but so are the angels. In order to preserve their bloodlines they have bred with humans, creating a new race called Nephilim. But there is one race that is more endangered than humans or Seraphim, Archangels. As most people believe the Archangels have become extinct, rumours surface of a Legend; that a baby was born out of flame, the offspring of an archangel.
Dyston Blackbell is tasked to find and protect this child. He sends her strange dreams in hope that she will find him. When he discovers that she has enrolled at his family’s angel academy in Melbourne, he will do anything to protect Scarlett. But when he finds himself falling for her the Heavenly realm rejects him.
But 21-year-old Scarlett Porter realises that being half Archangel has some advantages. She has developed a unique trait, one that marks her as an Archangel. Will she keep it to herself or use it to fight back?
When an old enemy resurfaces, The Lucifites, Scarlett discovers that Dyston’s older brother Lakyn is at the helm of their sinister plans; to destroy the Nephilim race or use Scarlett for their own selfish purposes when they find out who she really is.
And when Lakyn discovers that Scarlett had only seduced him to rescue Dyston from his prison in the Realm of Light, it sends him on a journey of self-discovery and destruction. One that sees him venturing farther off course than his father would like. Will he choose a new life of love or his old life of darkness?

INTERVIEW:

L.L. Hunter was sweet enough to answer some questions for me!  Check out her answers!

What were you doing when you came up with the idea for the story?

The initial idea came to me in a dream, about the two lead characters and about the angel academy and the names came to me while I was reading outside on my deck and then it all began from there.

Why did you choose Angels?

I have always been obsessed with angels and their origins and have always wanted to write about angels.

Are any if the characters based on someone in real life?

None of the characters are based on any one person, bits of their personalities are based on my friends and family though.

How long did it take you to write the book?

From conception to editing it took about 4- 5 months.

Where did you get the inspiration for the cover?

I knew from the beginning what I wanted on the cover. I told my amazing cover designer Regina Wamba from Mae I Design and Photography what I envisioned and she created something that was more incredible than I could ever have imagined and it fits so perfectly with the story.

What’s your ideal writing environment?

In my room at my computer listening to my iPod eating chocolate and sipping coffee, while my dog or cat sleeps on my bed.

What author has been your biggest inspiration?

A few authors have inspired me, Phillip Pullman, for introducing me to fantasy and creating amazing worlds, Cassandra Clare for creating lovable characters.

Do you have a plan for when Book 2 will be out?

I was aiming for june 2013, if I can publish it with the indie publisher I have in mind it will be june, if not it will have to be nov/dec 2013 since I am going overseas in july.

What advice would you give to someone writing their first book?

If you have an awesome idea, stick with it and work on it because you could have an amazing story there. Also don’t let anyone tell you what you can and cannot do.

Were there any major obstacles you had to overcome while writing Fire and Ice?

Working on my past and present perfect tenses have been a real struggle, but luckily I have an amazing friend with a degree in English literature helping me.

The Subtle knife by Phillip Pullman and The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien.
